译者行为批评视域下《史记》译者倪豪士身份研究

汉学家译者在中国典籍外译的进程中扮演了重要角色,倪豪士(1943～)作为当今美国汉学界的著名学者之一,主要从事中国古典文学研究,并翻译了大量中国经典著作,对中国文化对外传播发挥了重要作用。其中,倪豪士领衔的《史记》全译项目尤为学界所关注,其译本因学术性较强的特质得到了广泛好评。随着翻译研究的文化转向,译者研究逐渐成为翻译研究的重点。译者的身份对其文本选择、翻译策略及风格具有重要影响,倪豪士既是一名汉学家译者,同时又是一名汉学教师,其丰富的学术研究成果、严谨的教学活动与翻译行为相辅相成。本文从周领顺提出的译者行为批评视角出发,结合翻译内与翻译外两个视域,对倪豪士的不同身份进行考察,探究其在《史记》英译中呈现的特征及影响。本研究通过文本细读和文本对比分析的方法,以杨宪益、戴乃迭夫妇的《史记》译本为参照,结合“求真-务实”连续统评价模式,对倪豪士不同身份下的行为进行考察。依据译者行为批评理论,具体分为以下两个角度,倪豪士作为语言人,如何使其译文求真于《史记》原文;倪豪士作为社会人,如何使其译文务实于社会。研究发现,作为语言人,倪豪士的身份可具体为《史记》的读者与译者,其教育背景为其深刻解读原...
