顺应论视角下沙博理英译《新儿女英雄传》研究

自1947年踏上中国的土地之后,沙博理便与之结下了不解之缘。借由翻译中国文学,沙博理笔耕不辍五十余载致力于将真实的新中国呈现给西方国家。红色抗战小说《新儿女英雄传》不仅标志着沙博理翻译生涯的开端,也是第一部在美国出版的红色小说。小说的英译本由国家机构赞助出版,最初于1951年刊载在《中国文学》创刊号,沙博理在1952年联系美国出版社出版了译作,之后外文出版社分别于1958年和1979年发行了单行本。比利时语用学家耶夫·维索尔伦认为传统语用学的研究课题有诸多共同之处,因此他提出了语用综观论,即将语用学研究扩展到语言能表达意义的各个层次。他认为语言的使用过程就是语言使用者从一系列可供选择的项目中作出灵活的选择,从而满足交际需要的过程。同样的,翻译的过程也是不断选择和顺应的过程,译者要选择不同的翻译方法来完成语境关系顺应。本文以顺应论为理论框架,以《新儿女英雄传》的英译本为例,从交际语境和语言语境两个层次展开分析,研究作为原文解读者以及译文阐释者的沙博理对原语和目的语文化做出的双向顺应。在交际语境顺应方面,从译者的心理世界、原语文化的社会世界以及目的语的物理世界三个角度展开分析;而在语言语境...
