布迪厄社会学理论视角下的《孙子兵法》英译本对比研究

《孙子兵法》作为经典的军事著作在世界范围内被人们所熟知。据统计,从1905年到现在,《孙子兵法》英译本多达三十余本,本文选取的翟林奈,格里菲斯和林戊荪的三个英译本呈现出了不同的视角:文学研究,军事研究和文化传播,而这有助于笔者从布迪厄社会学的角度进行分析。皮埃尔·布迪厄是法国著名的社会学家。20世纪90年代以来,西方翻译学界开始借用布迪厄的社会学理论进行翻译研究,这极大地拓展了翻译研究的理论视野并有助于我们从译者及其所处的社会历史条件等方面进行英译本的对比分析。文章主要从《孙子兵法》三个英译本在翻译动机和视角、翻译策略(归化与异化)、翻译方法(直译,意译,音译,漏译和伪译)和翻译文本(修辞手法,军事术语和文化负载词)四个方面对比研究,肯定了布迪厄社会学理论对翻译的指导作用—翟林奈处于文学和翻译场域,他出版的众多书籍和优秀的中英双语能力成为其文化资本,也提供了经济资本(稿费)和社会资本(出版社支持),其惯习体现在对待中国文化的态度是学习中国文学和军事知识,翻译活动中侧重文学研究;格里菲斯处于军事和翻译场域,他优秀的双语能力和教育背景成为其文化资本,任职将军的经历也提供了经济资本(薪水)和...
