论冰心翻译中的“东方情结”

　　冰心不仅是现当代著名的作家、诗人和社会活动家,而且是现当代成果丰硕的翻译家。她的翻译被誉为是中国翻译史上的精品,影响了一代又一代的读者。然而,人们在提及冰心的时候,很少提及她的翻译成就,对其翻译成就的研究也不多,对于其翻译中“东方情结”这一特点的研究更为少见。 冰心翻译中的“东方情结”,指的是她在翻译中表现出的对东方文化和东方哲理的推崇和追求。具体表现在两个方面。其一,翻译选材。冰心在翻译中避而不译英语国家作品,而对非英语的东方民族文学倾注译介热情。如黎巴嫩、印度、尼泊尔、朝鲜等东方民族文学。其二,翻译策略。在中译英时,她采取了异化策略,旨在向英语读者介绍她为之骄傲的辉煌中国文化;而在英译中时,采取了归化策略,以使译文符合中国当时的诗学规范,易于中国读者接受。 这样一种翻译情结在今天看来显得难以理解,因为译者接受了长达12年的西式教育,唯一精通的外文又是英语,本应对英美文学更觉亲近。究其原因,在于20世纪二三十年代意识形态的演变及其对文学研究会诗学主张的影响,在于20世纪五六十年代主流意识及其对文学翻译的影响。20世纪二三十年代,在“救国、自强”主流意识形态操纵、影响下,文学研究会提出...
