从翻译适应选择论分析罗慕士译《三国演义》中官职名的英译

　　近年来,随着中国文化对外传播的发展,《三国演义》等典籍的英译研究也受到了译者的关注。作为一部军事小说,官职名无疑是《三国演义》中最具代表性的文化负载词之一。然而,在现有《三国演义》的英译研究中,有关其官职英译的研究还比较少,也缺乏系统性。因此,本文将以此为突破口,以翻译适应选择论为理论指导,对《三国演义》中官职名的英译进行系统的分析研究。翻译适应选择论将翻译活动看作是译者在“翻译生态环境”中的适应和选择过程。其方法可以概括为三维转换,“即在‘多维度适应和适应性选择’的原则下,相对地集中于语言维、文化维和交际维的适应性选择转换”(胡,2004:133)。通过对《三国演义》中的官职名进行分类对比后发现,三国时期官职名虽然结构复杂,名称多样,内涵丰富,但其京官、省官以及军衔的名称组成却有一定的规律可循,这就为官职名英译的系统研究提供了依据。本文以罗慕士的英译本为研究对象,分析译者在翻译不同官职名时所采用的翻译技巧以及其产生的效果,并提出改进建议。研究发现,译者在翻译中国古代官职名时,可以综合运用音译、套译、释义、加注、泛化、增译和省略等一系列技巧,提高翻译质量,扩大受众面。其中,在语言形式层...
