和谐，融合，和平在汤亭亭《第五和平书》中的体现

作为能被美国主流社会接受的为数不多的少数族裔作家之一,汤亭亭无疑是美国族裔文学史上一位重要的有影响力的作家。她的前三部获奖作品——《女勇士》,《中国佬》以及《引路人孙行者:他的即兴曲》大多是关于女性主义,男子气质,历史,属性,族裔政治等问题的探讨。但是作为一个作家,她同其他作家一样也对人类社会的普遍问题给予关注,如对爱与自由的渴望,对艺术与幸福的追求,以及对生与死的探寻。本文研究汤的新作《第五和平书》中的和谐,融合以及和平主义思想。通过把这本书与她前期作品进行比较和对照,指出汤亭亭无论在文学作品还是在现实生活中都是一名始终不渝的和平主义者。她的和平主义思想一直是贯穿其所有作品的主线,尽管直到在《第五和平书》中才浮出水面。本文并没有就性别和族裔问题避而不谈,而是专门用两章探讨了汤的和平女性主义和文化融合的观点。与其他专门对汤作品进行的女性主义和文化属性研究不同之处在于,本文的这两章依然是为分析汤的和平主义而服务,意在说明汤的女性主义观其实是和平女性主义,特点是主张男女之间互惠,互助,和谐的关系,而她支持文化融合的目的则是为了在多元文化和多重属性共存的多元社会中寻求平衡与和平。为了寻求构建...
