伊丽莎白·盖斯凯尔小说中人物的两性越位的研究

本论文把两性问题置于了最显著的地位,在盖斯凯尔的小说中性别特征的界定与伦理上个性的诚实与否密切相关,打破这种传统道德上的范式也总是同时穿越了两性的传统观念以及行为的界限。更具体地说,本篇论文所关注的是伊丽莎白?盖斯凯尔怎样以两性角色的倒置、越位冲刺与挑战了传统中心地位的两性伦理道德观。伊丽莎白?盖斯凯尔颠覆了这种传统的两性道德模式,探索了当男性开始青睐谎言,女性趋向诚实各领域所发生的变化。尽管许多作家在性别特征的越位及伦理固有模式的背叛上具有相似性,但盖斯凯尔在这一问题上的探索却深入到了迥然不同的意识形态领域。盖斯凯尔推崇自由的两性角色的交叉与渗透,这或许缓和了两性间的冲突,而又不致触及中产阶级两性角色模式的本质。她希求通过为中产阶级女性抒发的适度,而非具破坏性,极端性的话语,来取得这样的效果,也因此把女性的权利与中产阶级更广阔的前景联系了起来。伊丽莎白?盖斯凯尔联系中产阶级的多层次的思想意识模式刍以窥视女性的地位,这一视角使她能够呈现出动态的两性伦理与心理的越位与反叛,也使我们窥见了她旨在维护囿于其中的意识形态领域的等级、秩序的矛盾心理。
