《呼啸山庄》美丑形态对比研究

　　艾米莉·勃朗特是十九世纪英国最重要的小说家之一。她唯一的小说《呼啸山庄》被公认为英国小说中最伟大的作品之一，在英国乃至世界文学史上占有重要的地位。因其内涵丰富精深，研究者对它的阐释层出不穷。 以完全对立的两位男主人公和两座农庄为代表，《呼啸山庄》向人们展示了各种美丑形态对照。可以说，小说中的人物、环境和情节都形成了鲜明的对照。本文运用霍夫斯达德关于美的理论，尝试探讨作品中这三方面的美丑形态对照。 希斯克厉夫和埃德加·林敦是两个完全不同的人物，主要体现在形体、体能、心智和社会观念等方面。他们代表着两种截然不同的力量，因对女主人公凯瑟琳的不同形式的爱而纠葛在一起。基于美丑的定义，希斯克厉夫是力量与激情的化身，洋溢着野性的生命力与激情；而冷冰冰了无生机的林敦则苍白软弱，死气沉沉。 呼啸山庄和画眉农庄的自然环境和社会环境形成小说中的又一显著的美丑对照。它们代表着对立的两个世界和价值体系，即充满生机的本土文明和令人压抑的基督教文明。环境的这种双重性使作品的意义更加深厚。没有这一对照，小说将会平淡很多。 《呼啸山庄》的双重故事情节跌宕...
