美国戏剧《榆树下的欲望》中的概念隐喻分析

【摘要】：《榆树下的欲望》是尤金·奥尼尔戏剧中的代表作。自从该剧作被搬上舞台后,受到各界大量的关注与赞扬。不同研究领域的学者们从不同的方面对该剧进行了研究,例如从女性主义,象征主义,宿命论,人类欲望等角度。然而,很少有人从概念隐喻理论这一方面出发来对《榆树下的欲望》这部戏剧进行研究。一谈到概念隐喻理论,我们不得不提到Lakoff和Johnson的作品《我们赖以生存的隐喻》。这本关于隐喻的书籍被认为是隐喻发展中的巨作。Lakoff和Johnson在这本书中认为隐喻不仅能够修饰语言,而且能够帮助人类认识世界和进行思考。语言与认知能力密切相关,认知能力对语言研究具有重要作用。在此基础上他们提出了概念隐喻,并将其分为结构隐喻,方位隐喻和本体隐喻三种。这篇论文旨在通过研究《榆树下的欲望》中的概念隐喻,讨论其剧作中的三种概念隐喻,从而找出该戏剧中的概念隐喻特点,并揭示出其以体验哲学为哲学基础的一些认知功能。除此之外,在运用概念隐喻理论对该戏剧进行分析的过程中,笔者对该戏剧研究中的新发现进行了简要阐述。总体来看,对戏剧《榆树下的欲望》的概念隐喻分析主要关注于戏剧语言本身,这将对读者的文学欣赏有所帮助。
