文本类型理论指导下的《地质探索》英汉翻译实践报告

  近年来,为了满足人民群众学习科学技术的需求,我国译介出版了许多国外优秀科普书籍。相应地,科普翻译繁荣发展。如何使科普译本易于读者理解、符合读者阅读口味,是十分重要的研究课题。本实践报告总结了笔者参与翻译《地质探索——地球的动感与活力》(Geologica—EARTH’S DYNAMIC FORCES)一书的情况。笔者在翻译过程中,主要有以下难点:1)词汇层面:量词、地名文化负载词、形容词的翻译;2)句法层面:长句和复合句以及谚语文化内涵的翻译;3)语篇层面:段落中逻辑关系和句子语序的处理。英国翻译理论家彼得·纽马克提出了文本类型理论,将文本类型划分为三类,即表达型文本、信息型文本、呼唤型文本。《地质探索——地球的动感与活力》旨在向群众普及科学知识、提升科学素养。结合文本类型理论,笔者认为是该文本是信息型文本和呼唤型文本。因此,笔者认为,在翻译该文本时,应该以读者为中心,尽力准确地转换原文信息,贴切地转换原文风格。笔者在纽马克文本类型理论的指导下,针对上述翻译难点,采用相应策略:1)词汇层面:采用直译法、加注法解决量词和地名文化负载词的翻译难点,采用转换法、引申法解决形容词的翻译难点;2...
