误读理论视角下翟理斯与韦利的译者关系研究

  翟理斯(Herbert Giles,1845-1935)是十九世纪下半叶至二十世纪初英国汉诗翻译领域最具有代表性的汉学家之一。翟理斯一生笔耕不辍,著作颇丰,他的汉诗英译以语言华丽,格律严谨著称于世。韦利(Arthur Waley,1889-1966)是继翟理斯之后英国汉学界的又一后起之秀。韦利以颠覆者的形象登上汉诗翻译的舞台。他不仅舍弃了严谨的格律体和华丽抽象的语言风格,还以霍普金斯的“弹跳节奏”为核心建立起属于自己的译诗风格。翟理斯和韦利是两个相邻时期英国汉学界汉诗翻译领域的杰出代表,但二者的汉诗翻译在多个层面表现出明显的差异。作为一名后辈译者,韦利不仅在翻译实践中背离了以翟理斯为代表的翻译传统,还曾在1918年至1920年间与翟理斯就汉诗翻译展开一场专门的论战。布鲁姆(Harold Bloom,1930-)是美国“耶鲁学派”的重要批评家、文学理论家。他在《影响的焦虑》中提出误读理论。布鲁姆的误读理论重新定义了前辈诗人与后辈诗人之间的关系。布鲁姆用误读来描述后辈诗人为了建立自己的文学地位而对前辈诗人所代表的文学传统进行偏移和修正的倾向。误读理论虽为诗歌理论,但同样能为翻译领域的研究带...
