英汉“脸/面”的认知对比研究

　　古人根据他们的经验,特别是与人体相关的经验来感知世界。脸作为头部最显眼的部分,也是人体的重要组成部分,这促生了其他基于脸部而延伸的概念,而这些概念都体现在词语的词汇意义扩展中。以往关于人脸意义的研究主要是从历时或某个共时角度进行的,归属于传统语义学范畴或归属于对其社会功能的比较研究。后来,一位中国学者Ning Yu(2003)首先使用两种概念工具转喻和隐喻,从认知的角度对中国人的“脸/面”与英语“face”进行比较研究。转喻和隐喻,在过去被视为两种修辞手法,而在20世纪80年代Lakoff和Johson(1980)的研究以及后来更多认知语言学家进行的研究中,这两种修辞手段被视为在人们生活中普遍存在的两种概念工具,不只体现在语言使用方面,还体现在思考和行动过程中。在此之后,为了展示中文“脸/面”和英文“face”的隐喻和转喻用法,许多中国学者提供了更多在现实生活语言中更具体的中英文例子。然而,他们都忽略了一个更复杂的情况,即两个概念工具交互式地共同作用在中英文“脸/面”或“face”上。根据Goosens(1990)的观点,他认为存在着隐转喻这一情况,主要包含两类:来自转喻的隐喻和隐喻内...
