裘德：挣扎于矛盾冲突之中

托马斯·哈代创作《无名的裘德》之时,资本主义经济已经发展到了一个新的阶段。铁路在英国普通百姓的生活中扮演着不可或缺的角色,铁路在穿梭不停,经济在快速发展,整个维多利亚的英国社会呈现出一种焦躁不安的心态。人们发现已经和过去封建社会的生活决裂,然而焦躁不安的心态使他们看不到未来。该书的男主角裘德的一生就处于种种矛盾之中,心态是为躁动不安。究其原因,有裘德的离奇身世、特殊的生活经历以及当代社会的焦躁心态。一生之中,焦躁的裘德未能专注于生活,而是在下面所列矛盾中游离挣扎:信仰方面,挣扎于基督教信仰与无神论之间;社会行为方面,挣扎于主流与边缘之间;情爱方面,挣扎于肉体享受与精神追求之间;自我意义方面,挣扎于被社会异化与对自然亲近之间。本文将对裘德所处的这四种矛盾状态进行探索与分析。第一章为“挣扎于基督教信仰与无神论之间”,主要探讨了裘德对其宗教信仰的幻灭。故事初始,裘德热爱阅读,而接触书籍除少数语法书籍外全为宗教书籍,故热衷于基督教,并梦想在这个领域找到一份工作谋生。此时,裘德生命中出现了两个女人,他们对裘德的生活产生了重大影响,使他对自己原先的宗教信仰渐行渐远。首先,裘德被诱入与阿里贝拉的婚姻...
