亨利·詹姆斯笔下的“新女性”

　　本文将关注点集中在美国著名作家亨利·詹姆斯早期小说作品《黛茜·米勒》和《一位女士的画像》中四位女性角色上,致力于挖掘詹姆斯自身对于“新女性”的认识。通过对四位女性角色各自性格的分析,尤其是她们性格中“新女性”特征的分析,本文旨在揭示出詹姆斯对于女性的态度。通过对前三位“新女性”的分析,我们不难看出詹姆斯借用她们暴露了诸多“新女性”的缺陷;通过与前三者的对比和比较分析,我们还看到,经由对伊莎贝尔·阿切尔的塑造,詹姆斯重建了“新女性”,同时也是他自己的理想女性这一形象。 本文分为六个部分,开篇的介绍和文末的结论两个部分之间有四章: 介绍部分主要回顾了早期文学评论家们对于詹姆斯作品中所体现的“女性倾向”以及“美国女孩”的关注,突出本研究的不同之处及价值所在; 第一章美国“新女性”的出现介绍了“新女性”在美国出现的背景、原因以及文学评论家、社会学家给予其的定义,为后文的分析作铺垫; 第二章詹姆斯作品中的“新女性”参照第一章中“新女性”的特征,通过分析前三位詹姆斯作品中的“新女性”各自的性格特点,认为詹姆斯在塑造她们们各自形象的同时,着力刻画并暴露了“新女性”特征中的某些缺陷,为詹姆斯理想的女性...
