论奥古斯特·威尔逊《钢琴课》中非裔美国人文化记忆与身份重构

近年来,关于奥古斯特·威尔逊的普利策戏剧奖获奖作品《钢琴课》的研究,前人主要从创伤解读,黑人的身份探究,非洲文化等角度开展,而以文化记忆理论考察《钢琴课》的研究鲜见。文化记忆理论由阿莱达·阿斯曼提出,该理论认为文化是一个群体的核心所在,群体的“文化记忆”可以超越时空,持续对每一代群体成员产生影响,从而产生文化认同和身份认同,而遗失文化记忆就会导致群体的解散。以该理论为视角研究《钢琴课》,可发现非洲文化记忆对于非裔美国人在主流社会中身份重构的重要作用:对于文化记忆的否认和摒弃让非裔美国人长期处于社会的边缘地带,而只有重新找回失去的历史文化记忆才能使他们以新建构的文化身份融入主流社会。本文将以阿斯曼夫妇的文化记忆理论为参考,对威尔逊的原著语料进行阐释性的分析,并在此基础上得出以下观点:(一)对历史“记忆”和传统文化“记忆”的摒弃,使得非裔美国人否认自身伤痛历史记忆,甚至拒绝让后代继承这段屈辱的历史文化记忆,文化的无根性让他们身份的构建面临困难。而长期和群体以及家庭的分离,让黑人难以在群体中找到归属感,只能沦为白人可以随意处置的物品,无法构建自身文化身份,在主流社会找寻一席之地。(二)非裔美...
