论佛经汉译对汉语的影响

佛教诞生于古印度,它与基督教、伊斯兰教并称为世界三大宗教。它是由当时迦毗罗卫国的王子乔达摩·悉达多舍王位出家修证悟道后于公元前六至五世纪创立的。 翻译在引进和学习西方国家的文化从而形成中国文化的过程中起着举足轻重的作用。中国有着超过五千年悠久历史的人类文明和三千年历史的翻译活动。佛教在相当长的一段时间内不被印度以外的国家所知道,在一世纪中叶即两汉之际,佛教逐渐向东传入中国。它独特的宗教信仰深入到当时人们的精神生活和传统文化当中,在长时间的传播和发展过程中,佛教在思想文化领域给古老的中国带来崭新的东西,给汉文化的发展注入了新的活力。 佛教典籍浩如烟海,梵文书写的佛经需要翻译成中文,以满足中国佛教徒的需要。如何将其介绍给中国的信徒,这对于致力于佛经汉译事业的高僧大德们来说是一件万分艰巨的事。人们充分认识到了这项事业的重要性和伟大意义。于是,一场历时800余年,佛教典籍的翻译多达1600部,6400余卷的佛经翻译运动在中国掀起。 中国的佛经汉译在经历着草创、发展、鼎盛与衰落这四个阶段的演变过程中,以鸠摩罗什、真谛、玄奘和不空等为代表的译经师们耗尽毕生心血潜心译经,为佛经汉译事业做出了不朽的贡...
