留学申请拒绝信的人际意义研究

　　人际功能或人际意义作为系统功能语法中三大功能/意义中的一种,指的是人们用语言和他人交往,建立和保持一定的人际关系,用语言来影响别人的行为,同时用语言来表达对世界的看法甚至改变他人对世界的看法。韩礼德认为,人际意义主要通过语气、情态和语调来体现。但他也指出,人称系统也可以体现人际意义。 留学申请拒绝信作为拒绝信函的一种,因涉及威胁面子的拒绝言语行为从而体现出重要的人际意义。此类信函既传达了拒绝信息,又涉及对写信人与收信人之间人际关系的处理。 本文选取30封网上搜集的留学申请拒绝信(电子邮件)作为语料,采取定性分析和定量分析相结合的研究方法,确定了信件的语境配置,对信件中语言的语气,情态,和人称系统进行了分析。经过分析发现：(1)写信人在与收信人的交流中占据主导地位,其话语正式、客观且具有权威性；(2)写信人表现出诚意和对收信人的尊重,考虑到收信人的面子,并降低对其的伤害；(3)有时写信人将拒绝的责任转移到收信人身上,并且直截了当地表明对收信人的拒绝。这些结果并不矛盾,由信函的话语基调和功能所决定。
