乔治·斯坦纳阐释学翻译视角下《土门》的英译研究

《土门》是中国当代作家贾平凹的代表作品之一,发表于1996年,讲述了农村城市化的故事。小说中包含了大量陕西地域文化和习俗,人物对白引用了大量的传说、典故。虽然中文版本出版早,但英文版本出版时间不长,故相关的英译研究较少。本文作者运用乔治·斯坦纳阐释学理论探讨胡宗峰和贺龙平两位译者合译的《土门》英译本,以期拓宽陕西现代作品英译的研究领域。基于哲学阐释学,乔治·斯坦纳提出翻译活动的四步骤:信赖、侵入、吸收、补偿。乔治·斯坦纳阐释学翻译理论的第一步是信赖,即相信原作具有翻译价值。第二,译者在表达原文意思时会有意或无意地侵入原文本。译者侵入了原文的各个方面,如:社会背景、物质文化、宗教信仰、语言表达等。第三步是译者从文化意义和语言形式出发将原文的意思融入译文。最后针对翻译中信息缺失,译者要采取不同手段进行补偿。本文以乔治·斯坦纳在阐释学基础上提出的翻译四步骤为理论指导,以贾平凹《土门》英译本为研究对象,采用文献分析法、个案研究法、比较分析法探析译者在翻译过程中是如何通过信赖、侵入、吸收、补偿四个步骤实现原文与译文、陕西地域文化与西方文化的平衡。通过研究发现,阐释学翻译理论的四个步骤贯穿了《土门...
