文化背景对翻译的影响

语言不仅是文化的组成部分并且反映着文化,语言是文化的产物和载体。语言与文化密不可分。而翻译则不仅是语言间的转换也是文化间的交流。随着国际文化交流的扩大,翻译的任务也变得越来越重要。每个国家都有自己的文化背景。文化背景必然对翻译造成影响。根据纽马克对文化背景的分类,文化背景知识可以分为五类。第一类是生态文化包括动物,植物,地理,山脉,平原等等;第二类是物质文化包括衣食住行等等;第三类是社会文化包括人们工作和休闲的方式以及对工作和休闲的态度等等;第四类是机构,风俗,观念文化,体现在政治方面,法律方面,宗教方面,艺术方面等等;最后一类是体态和习惯文化。 自从20世纪90年代翻译的“文化转向”以来,人们对翻译的认识发生了根本性的变化:翻译活动是一项复杂的人类活动,它不是单纯的语言转换,更是两种文化的转换,是一种跨文化的交际行为。翻译不能在真空中进行,而是受到一定的社会文化因素的影响。本文探讨了语言、文化与翻译三者之间的关系,并重点探讨了文化背景知识是如何影响翻译的。作者给出了诸多例子以便让译者对文化背景在翻译中的的影响有一个更清晰的了解。 所以,译者应该有广泛的文化背景知识,避免误译现象的产生...
